"What made a young lady like you from a poor hamlet apply for a job like this"? The interviewer looked forward to Supriya's answer. Supriya with a grin replied "My mother got married at her very young age and gave birth to me and my brother when she was 16. For society, she was that true virtuous girl who never broke the lame laws of society.
Shy, timid, and eyes always down. After she got left by my father when he found someone else, She had to work so hard that it took a whole week to get our stomach half filled. The society that adored her for being the perfect "timid" lady, just vanished when we were struck by the pain of poverty. She never made us go for shining shoes or doing house chores of affluent people like she did. All she asked us was to finish our education, no matter what. Being a poor girl in India, it was difficult for me to have the firm determination and get my studies finished. Every time I will be of the opinion of giving up. I remember my mother's words 'It's easy for a girl to give up, get married, and have kids...But to stand strong and to decide, it takes some effort. I really hope you would always go for the second choice'...And so I did."
Getting the appointment letter to her hands she felt the same saltness of the tears that starving abs gifted her but today in a different way because she and her mother represent two phases of every feminine story. Returning home., Supriya was super excited about telling her mother she did it..!! She really did actual empowerment..where her mother has stopped., she has begun it.
Sometimes this is what we all need to realize, more than cooking and raising children
women are meant for greater things too. Like beauty, she is also gifted with dreams. Like loyalty, she is also gifted with talents. So like tears, she should also be gifted with smiles. And that's what empowerment should really stand for. Its time girls., being ambitious is better than being obedient. The analogy that any person can step up and make a real difference is a strong thing., without bothering whether it's a 'he' or a 'she'. Empowerment should start within YOU and should start NOW.
